Diga Diga Doo is BACK
Bangkok’s hep cats are inviting you to join in for a roarin’ night out! Diga Diga Doo returns to Chinatown for an unforgettable evening of live music, social dancing, and shows.
Shine your shoes, set your hair and step inside a gorgeous 1930s ballroom to be whisked back to the age of jazz, swing and style. Dance the night away with the well-dressed crowd, and prepare to be enchanted as we revive a bygone era of elegance and chivalry.
Jump, jive, flirt and preen to a big band swing soundtrack, led by legendary New York pianist Gordon Webster, with the stunning vocal stylings of Hetty Kate. Allow yourself to be wowed by high-energy boogie woogie and lindy hop performances, a scintillating burlesque revue and the jaw-dropping skills of a tap dancing phenomenon.
SHOWS
The Gordon Webster Band
We are delighted to announce that the world’s most sought-after swing musician will join us here in Bangkok to set the Diga Diga Doo dance floor alight. Having played the piano since the age of four, Gordon Webster’s influences range from Fats Waller and Count Basie to Oscar Peterson and Gene Harris and he’s set to lead the band in a lineup of the most toe-tapping tunes imaginable. Besides his prodigious musicianship, Gordon Webster is an accomplished lindy hopper and his understanding of what dancers need to cut loose makes him in high demand at swing dance events across the world. He boasts a list of collaborations with jazz and blues luminaries, and he’ll be joined on our stage by the extraordinarily talented vocalist, Hetty Kate. Thanks to their enchanting album, “Gordon Meets Hetty”, the swing scene is already enamoured with this stellar combination and we can’t wait to see them perform live together. All hail the swing king and the jazz queen.
And more
Sharon Davis
The phenomenally foxy burlesque bombshell joins us once again. Sharon Davis is not only a world-class jazz and lindy dancer but champion of the 2013 World Burlesque Games. Last year she brought the house down as her glamourous alter-ego, Bonnie Fox, and we’re quivering with excitement to see what she has in store for Diga Diga Doo 2016.
Sarah Reich
Nothing short of a tap-dancing miracle, Sarah is almost single-handedly responsible for the modern revival of the artform, injecting a funky street style and mind-blowing rhythms into her classic tap technique. A YouTube sensation thanks to her appearances with Postmodern Jukebox, and in demand for her live shows across the globe, we’re beyond excited to have her perform live at Diga Diga Doo.
Juan Villafane
Besides being a swing dancer and entertainer world-renowned for his breathtaking live performances, Juan is responsible for remarkable shows and lindy hop parties across South America. We’re delighted to welcome him back to Bangkok.
William and Maeva
Hailing from the south of France, William and Maeva are in Bangkok for the first time to show us what multi-style world champions are made of. Having conquered the boogie-woogie world with four WRRC world titles (in 2005, 2008, 2009, and 2010), they turned their sights on lindy hop and further acclaim followed shortly. Get ready for an explosive performance!

Venue
SHANGHAI MANSION BANGKOK
A prohibition-era palace awaits you down in Chinatown.
Like all glamourous ladies, the Shanghai Mansion hotel has a fascinating past.
Once a popular opera house frequented by the Royal Family of Thailand, it latterly became a textile trading house as love for the art dwindled. For a time, the Mansion housed one of Bangkok’s most famous fashion stores and Chinese herbal medicine shops. Finally in 2005, its potential for beauty and elegance was recognized again and at last it was revived and transformed into a stunning, 1930s-style hotel, complete with palatial ballroom, which awaits you.
