Designers Profile: The work of AtelierNL translates the convergence of environment, history, and human experience into objects and systems that enrich everyday life. By researching and rearranging what already exists, Atelier NL touches on what it means to be human in an ever-evolving world. In this time of rapid technological change, it is rare to witness the processes that provide the products and materials we depend on. AtelierNL focus on quality of process and the unique characteristics of materials.
Content:
The workshop provides a methodology that encourages a deeper appreciation for the environment, culture and yourself. It guides you to appreciate the potential of subtlety and to trust your own capacities. Its developed to use design not mainly as a vector to create objects, but as a process to reveal a hidden world of data. To learn to analyse on every possible scale, from the general landscape to the molecular level, in order to grasp all of its aspects, from chemical, to historic and culture. Observation of the environment and yourself leads to understanding which technique to use, what shape to apply, which choices to make.
Participants will undertake a personal design journey through a Mapping Typology workshop. They will explore found objects in the field, collecting what they are naturally drawn to. Through this process, much will be revealed about the collector.
